Youth Band Competition

For bands with a minimum of 3 members and being under the age of 21yrs as at ( as at October 11th 2009)

$1000 - 1st Prize *

The Competition is to be held at the Richmond Club Jazz Basement, 6 East Market Street Richmond on Wednesday October 15th 2009

Bands will play 2 pieces, the entire program must be Jazz orientated, i.e. Swing Jazz, Bebop Jazz, Latin Jazz, or Funk Jazz. ENTRY FEE will be $30.00 per band.

They need to be 2 pieces of contrasting styles. The performances will not exceed 15 minutes.


A keyboard amp, bass amp and basic drum kit will be provided. A P.A. System and some microphones will be provided by the Richmond Jazz Club.The minimum number of competitors is 3 per band. Winners of the Youth Jazz Band Competition will go on to perform at live at our "free Outdoor Sunset Jazz Concert" in Thompson Square where they will be presented with their prize money.
